What By Any Means San Jose collects on this website, why, who else sees it, and what you can tell us to do about it. Every athlete we train is a child, so this page is written with that front of mind.
We do not collect your address, date of birth, government ID or health information through these forms, and there is no password to create.
We train children. That means we hold a child's name, their age, their school grade and their playing level, and we treat that as the most sensitive thing on this site.
If you believe a child has given us information without your involvement, email elijah@byanymeanssanjose.com and we will delete it.
This site runs the Meta pixel, a small piece of Facebook and Instagram's advertising code, on every page. It loads before anything else does.
The pixel tells Meta that a browser opened a page here, and it records a few specific moments: opening a page, submitting the free trial or contact form, and completing an enrollment payment. It sets a cookie in your browser so Meta can recognise the same browser again, and Meta receives your IP address, your browser type, and the address of the page you were on.
We use it to see whether our ads are reaching families who actually book, and to show ads to people who have visited the site. We do not send your name, your email address, your phone number, or anything about your athlete to Meta. Only the browser-level information above is shared, and only from this website.
Under California law, letting an advertising platform collect information about your visit this way counts as "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, even though no money changes hands and even though we never send your name. So we say plainly: this is the one place where information about you leaves this site for an advertising company. See Your California rights for how to stop it.
Checked live on this page: 1 Meta pixel active (id 1850601618890282).
We only text you if you tick the consent box on our forms. It covers transactional texts (confirmations, reminders, schedule changes and billing notices) and marketing texts (news about programs, events and special offers). It starts unticked, and giving us a phone number on its own is not agreeing to texts. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply.
We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in/consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your mobile information is used solely to send you the messages described in this policy.
California law lets you ask us to tell you what we hold and who we shared it with, give you a copy, correct it, delete it apart from records we must keep by law, and opt out of the advertising sharing described above. Asking changes nothing about your athlete's place, price or coaching.
As the parent or legal guardian you make these requests on your athlete's behalf, and only you can.
Email elijah@byanymeanssanjose.com or call (408) 597-4327. There is no form. We may ask a question or two to check it is really you before we hand anything over. Requests are handled by hand. To stop the pixel everywhere rather than just here, block advertising cookies in your browser or use Meta's own ad settings.
We keep your information while you are with us and for as long as we need the records afterwards. Payment and tax records and signed agreements are kept as long as the law requires. Enquiries that never became a membership are deleted once we would no longer reasonably follow up.
The site runs over an encrypted connection, payment details go straight to Stripe and never touch our systems, and only people who need to see your records can. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you.
We may update this page as the academy changes what it does. The version on the site is always the current one, and if we change something significant we will say so on the page.
